Resting about 20 kilometers east of the international cultural hub Vancouver, BC, Simon Fraser University’s location of Burnaby has become a cultural center in its own right. SFU Galleries

 SFU is home to several art galleries across its Burnaby and Vancouver campuses. The Simon Fraser University Art Collection boasts a total of over 5,500 works including important national and regional art pieces from the last century.

SFU Gallery

The SFU Gallery in Burnaby opened to the public in 1970. It focuses on contemporary works from international, national and regional contexts, and is open from 12-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Audain Gallery

The Audain Gallery is located in the SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts in Vancouver. It is open from 12-5 pm Tuesday to Saturday. Named after Michael Audain, this gallery opened in 2010 and boasts an impressive collection of contemporary works. The gallery’s Audain Visual Artists in Residence Program invites many visiting international artists each year.

Teck Gallery

The Teck Gallery in the SFU Harbour Centre is a more relaxed gallery atmosphere frequented by students, faculty and staff during campus hours throughout the week. It’s a lively social space that’s been available to those on the Vancouver campus since the Harbour Centre’s opening in 1989. Its open atmosphere and focus on artistic innovation within the community make it one of the best places to visit on campus.

Deer Lake Gallery

The Burnaby Arts Council is responsible for funding the Deer Lake Gallery, a 750 square foot space that is home to many works of art of different forms from across the region. One of several galleries near SFU Burnaby campus, the Burnaby Arts Council also hosts the annual Deer Lake Craft Festival showcasing and selling works from various BC artisans. The Deer Lake Gallery is open from 12-4:30 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
